Pirie Park YFC 0-0 Stamperland Jnrs

A clean sheet today will do the boys the world of good as they defended the way I’ve been asking them to over the past few weeks and making it harder for teams to break us down, really should have been out of sight in this one though.
Across the piece today I think we had probably the better of the chances really starting to use to wide players more and looking to drive at the defence of a team in much the same positions as ourselves, a great team display today and well organised made us harder to beat as the boys look to see if we can pick up points with only 5 games left of the season now, we had about 3 decent free kicks that we should have scored from and if it wasn’t for the woodwork on a couple occasions we could have had a comfortable victory today but credit to Pirie Park as they also defended well.
Not that I’m one to moan about refs but it really seemed as we were back to everything going against us with Zaryab in the box going down and their player trampling on him only for us to receive the booking a decision I couldn’t quite believe, I was told at the end of the game that he was booked for showing his studs as they tangled legs…..now that’s fair enough if he did but what was to happen to Raheem should have merited a straight red as he was cleaned out with a two footed, studs showing tackle, but the ref said he never seen that but managed to book the boy so he must have seen something. Then one last point as one of their players went to clear the ball and kicked the ground and went down and got himself out of jail as the ball broke to us and obviously with the Astro being on our side he got a free kick, surprisingly enough the Astro got away with just a talking to and no action taken. These decisions are the fine lines we run every week as we never get the run of the green, we were unlucky today and over the last couple of game we have really competed but just not managed to get our rewards so on to the next task against Hillwood next week which will be a tough ask but a challenge we will relish.
