Stamperland 2001s

Stamperland Jnrs 3-2 Broomhill SC.

Great result for the boys today, tough conditions for us 1st half but stood firm and actually played some good stuff with the wind against us. Anybody that’s followed us over recent times knows the tough weeks we’ve had but this season I’ve seen a real difference in them as they’ve all started to have an influence on their own team.
Changing formations and growing up and picking new positions has seen Jack and James along with Ewan and Lewis make us hard to break down, add into the mix big Jordan in midfield who scored a great opener today after some great play down the right from Adam. The boys really impress me as basically I am now turning into their admin guy as they turn into men and start to make decisions for themselves and ultimately take responsibility for their actions.
This game was not scheduled but fixtures in cups etc paved the way for rivalry weekend to continue as we had protested about an ineligible player the last time we met Broomhill which we had won the previous week, then for the next fixture to be the very team we protested against was always going to be spicy! Told the boys in training on Tuesday they’ll be right up for it to prove we were wrong to protest but what a game.
We started with the wind against us and the rain lashing down, I would say Broomhill had most of the play first half but we stood up and managed to create a few chances but nothing to get really exited about.
As half time approached the ball came through and as previously mentioned Adam got the ball in for Jordan to slot it over the keeper 1-0 at half time.

Got the boys in a half time and said nothing told them it stayed as it was, meaning no praise for the first half as they still had a job to do. Cammy and Jordan in midfield tried to create chances which we did but on one occasion we lost the ball and Broomhill broke forward to get the equaliser. They picked the pace up but we never panicked and got a second from Jordan to put us 2-1 up, with this we started to dominate and Raheem and Kai who have formed a great bond down the left worked well and tried to create chances.
As the half went on I could feel we would need a third to kill off the game and it did as the hall was played through to Adam and he slotted the ball by the keeper 3-1 and breathing space at last. Broomhill scores a second after getting a free-kick which I don’t know what it was for but we managed to hold out and got a well deserved victory.

Great performances all round today and Andrew in goal who must have been freezing made some great saves yet again.
A real team performance and spirit about the boys at the moment which hopefully comes from the years of hard work they have put into their football, it goes to show that the attitude I have towards coaching is everybody will find their level we are only here to guide not judge.
It’s always good to put them out in weather like that and see them come off with a smile on their faces.

Well in troops 🖤💛🖤💛
