Glenvale AFC 2-4 Stamperland Jnrs

Well where do we start here in an action packed afternoon at Ferguslie Park, as with the last game when we won 1-0 against Glenvale we had no natural centre backs and once again because of other commitments Raheem was away at half time so this left us with 14 on the day and 2 outfield subs and I change of keeper.
With this in mind I really tried to get the boys to concentrate on not conceding but first 20 mins was all us with Jordan, Cammy, Seb and Kai all working hard in midfield and within the first ten we were 1-0 up, James up front on his own as a bit of support from Kai opened them up a couple of times and we should have been out of sight but Glenvale are a good side and got their socks pulled up and got back into the game and started to knock the ball about and got their reward making it 1-1.
As the game progressed our defence of Jack, Adam,Chris and Mathew played well but a few miss hits could have went against us but Cammy in goal mopped up to keep us at 1-1, over the piece there was a bit of banter from both sides but I knew this could possibly be the plan as they would be out for revenge after our win earlier on in the season so told the boys to focus and not react.
Moving the ball from midfield Jordan created a great chance and played a great ball through to Kai who nearly made a meal of it but persisted and won the ball back for our poacher in chief Cammy Miller to knock the ball in from all of 3 yards out, sitting at 2-1 with 5 mins till half time we should have showed more composure and seen it out but Glenvale were on the attack right away and equalised with their next attack.
Couple of changes for the second half saw John come on and Andrew replace Cammy in goal, I hoped that we could get in to it quickly and get a goal but it was Glenvale who looked like doing this but the boys stick to their tasks again but all it was going to do was take one chance and as Jordan picked the ball up deep in our half and danced round a few players to create a chance that’s what it took to spark us to life and we were back in the game, the midfield started to impose themselves again Jordan started to flourish in there as the banter started to flow so it was quite ironic as he picked the ball up again to get past couple of players and slot the ball by the keeper from the edge of the box to get us back on track.

Unfortunately there was a sour note as the Glenvale keeper and John challenged for the ball with nothing really in it only for the keeper to drop the ball and lash out with a few punches to John, a stramash then kicked off so this left us with 12 to go and Glenvale down to 10 men as the keeper had been red carded for the punches.
We took control and managed to push on and get a fourth through Seb who has played superb for the last couple of games.

Overall barring the incident a great game and with the boys picking up a double win against Glenvale this season shows how hard they are now working after a slow start after the winter break, they really are starting to knock the ball about well and are showing a bit of grit and determination to grind out results.

C’mon the Stampy Jnrs 🖤💛🖤💛
