Stamperland 2001s

Stamperland Jnrs 2-5 Glenvale AFC

A great day for football I think we’ll all agree but we absolutely Hibsed it in the first 30 secs and if you seen the start to the semi final at hampden you’ll know what I mean, and not long after that we were 2-0 down with us at that point showing signs we were still full of Easter eggs and being totally out run by Glenvale and looked out of it.
Game was a real struggle for us and we never really created anything all game but managed to get a great freekick by Jamie and another penalty for James to get us right back in it at half time 2-2. With a make shift defence I was going to leave it as it was at half time as big Lewis returned from watching his team go into the Scottish cup final but had to slot him in right away as Elliot had an injury and couldn’t continue. Glenvale started to make in roads again and we lost a sloppy goal and think the heads went down after that as we struggled to get back into it and sitting at 4-2 and not a bad result against a decent team we were given against us possibly a worse penalty than Celtic suffered last week against Ross County as the player in the box went down with little contact and the ref blew for a pen which I tried to contest but as we all know he ain’t changing his mind, I nearly decided to stop the game I was that disgusted with the decision but played on as it was our last league game of the season.
Over all a niggly game and both sides could contest some debatable decisions at times but that leads me on to the praise for my boys who once again have shown what it means to play for this team.
At no point have these boys wanted to give in even though games don’t normally go our way they still show up with enthusiasm and desire to learn the game and next season(which I’ve been told we are going on with) I will really up the game and now be more critical as they are fast becoming young men and feel it’s time to let them know next season is a big one as after that it’ll be under 19s, yes we don’t get the results we deserve sometimes but looking at the hard work they put in if we could recruit a few players that would certainly help take the boys to the next level of development.

A great season all round again and think the way the boys play as a unit serves them well going forward in this team and as they develop into young men because they’ve developed a real bond, especially when you see the turnout at training and the team spirit they show when representing the club it really is a privilege to take these boys at times as they show a real love of just wanting to play the game we all love.
It’s not the end of the season totally as we have 5 games in the divisional cup which I’m hoping we can really get back to the form of recent games.

Last point today is a big congratulations to all at St Cadocs YC Thistle who won our division this season well done to all the coaches and boys.

Looking forward to next league season already 💛
