A welcome return to the footie this afternoon after the xmas break, with no training since the Tuesday before the schools finished I had no expectations today but still asked the boys to give everything out there today which they more than did, started off really slowly and Rutherglen were all over us creating a few chances and eventually taking one to put them into the driving seat.
We were quite weak in tackles and I could see the boys were well off the pace a bit with nobody really committing to tackles and passes going astray in the middle of the park, we managed to get into the game first half and started to knock the ball about like we’d been working on before the break which is a real positive for us, all we need to do is be a bit more physical like we were at our goal and show desire to win the ball as big John showed when he knocked the ball down and Elliott sneaked in to the box to slot the ball home.
Home work for Tuesday boys be prepared to find your fitness again with the short sharp running drills as we’ve got a tough month with Gourock next Saturday followed by a cup game with Bute, then a tough ask again against St Cadocs at the end of the month.

Overall, a good outing for the team after a long lay off with some good play at times and I promise not to be too hard at training on Tuesday as I could see a few boys getting weary towards the end.
